About Me
CBT and EMDR treatment in Morpeth, Northumberland with a Clinical Psychologist
About Dr Sarah Woods
I worked in the NHS for nearly 20 years and held some senior positions. However, in 2021 I took an exciting step and expanded my part time private practice to full time. I vary my work between psychological therapy sessions and acting as an Expert Witness for the courts.
In the NHS, I led a specialist pain team and worked with people with chronic / persistent pain, depression, anxiety and trauma symptoms.
I enjoy meeting a variety of people in my work, enjoy working collaboratively with people and most of all, enjoy seeing people make positive changes to their well-being.
Outside of work I enjoy time with family, keeping active and being outdoors. Like many people I have to work hard to keep a balance in life and I understand the pressures and struggles many of us face in the modern world. Alongside this I have also had to learn how to manage significant events in my own life.
My clinic is in Morpeth, Northumberland and is easily accessible from surrounding areas such as Blyth, Bedlington, Ashington, Cramlington, Ponteland or Alnwick. I am a registered Clinical Psychologist and an EMDR Europe Accredited

More about Clinical Psychologists
Clinical Psychologists have 6 years of core training, to doctoral level. During training Clinical Psychologists work with different groups of people and use a range of different therapies. They also conduct a large piece of research before they qualify. Clinical Psychologists usually go on to specialise, for example, working with adults or children.
Clinical Psychologists use their experience and broad training to develop individualised therapy plans. This means that after an assessment session/s Clinical Psychologists can recommend the best therapy, or combination of therapies, tailored to a person’s needs.
Clinical Psychologists are members of the regulating body Health Care Professionals Council (HCPC). They are responsible for ensuring they meet ethical and professional standards. Sarah is also an EMDR Europe Accredited
